WD armor/weapons ideas? - Page 2

But I'm worried if all Blizzard did was add more and more stuff to the WD, rather than cover more of his body with heavier armor, it would present some problems.

For one thing, there's only so much they could do to dress up armor if there's not very much of it on the WD's body. Although, I suppose more powerful armors could cover him more, but with materials other than metal.

Another problem might arise when they look at the kinds of things they can do to ornament the armor. It would be cool for them to stick on some shrunken heads, etc. but stuff this small would be pretty difficult to see in-game. It could end up looking like the WD is just covered in a brownish mass of junk. Did you have anything specific in mind for the kinds of ornamentation you'd like to see?

I did not mention it in my first post, but I do believe the amount of armor covering the Witch Doctor's body will indeed increase.

I have a feeling that the lower armor types will look like wood or grass with some small, colored feathers and decorations adorning the WD. Higher armor types might both display signs of increasingly valuable materials being used (silver or gold) with larger or more prominent (but not necessarily more colorful) decorations in the form of bones, feathers, or trinkets. Bones, spikes, metal, and fur may also be present on the shoulders, wrists and ankles.

The giant, frontal mask may be made of bone or perhaps metal and be made more menacing in appearance through the use horns, spikes, and gnarled pieces of wood which twist and contort. The size, texture, and positioning of the horns will also grow more elaborate or menacing.

Feathers may become pieces of bark, fur, or metal, become brighter, cover more of the body, or become larger. Trinkets (such as talismans or fetishes) would be present most along the belt section of the WD and would emit a faint glow on more powerful armors.

Additionally, one of the pictures of concept art has an early render of the WD wearing a robe over his lower half. The robe is tattered, with the belt bearing skulls and thick pieces of bone. It is possible that later on, the Witchdoctor will be draped in much more cloth.|||Quote:

Well, that all sounds pretty good to me.

The increasing of the adornments' size/prominence would definitely be a way to avoid a cluttered look.

The WD would, if this turns out to be the case, evolve visually from frail to menacing as he gained better armor (possibly more so than other classes), which would be conceptually coherent, since it would create the illusion that he is physically formidable. Just like with his voodoo masks, it would allow him to psyche out and frighten his enemies, and he seems to be the type of character that would use such tactics of trickery.

In line with this thought, perhaps his more powerful masks could have properties like "x% chance to frighten enemies, causing them to run for x seconds."
