There should be a Posses skill

Not sure if this has been brought up or not. If it has I apologize.

I was thinking about the Witch Doctor and had an idea for a fun skill. Posses.

Imagine being able to Posses a target monster, and essentially "become" the monster for a given amount of time. You would have access to all of the monsters skills (attack or "skill" maybe) as the Witch Doctor would be left meditating/mumbling gibberish. This would be fun, I think, because you wouldn't worry about dying when you are the monster, but you would also have to watch out for your meditating Witch Doctor so that he does not get attacked by non possessed monsters.

It would, of course, probably not work on bosses (for their minds are stronger than the weak-minded monsters) - but I can absolutely picture the Witch Doctor possessing a monster and running around for a minute killing his monster friends.

The other benefit to this is (depending on AI goes) that the other monsters wouldn't attack him, at least not until the possessed monster attacked another monster (once this happens, the "other" monster knows he is now an enemy).

This could also be used to infiltrate a group of enemies (posses a monster but DON'T attack, just go and look around), or to scout dangerous areas without being spotted.

Just don't get too carried away or the Witch Doctor might die while you're off running around in a monsters body!

What do you guys think? I think it's quite feasible and I hope something like this makes it into the game.|||Hi!

In most cases taking over an enemy is not a good idea. Enemies are alot weaker than the actual player. It would be required that the possessed creature gets buffed up and alot. For the other stuff you could just have soothe or confusion spells. Scouting isin't really something you need in a game where you can kill the whole room with one skill.|||While the weak enemy thing is true, I think it can still work as a skill, just not as a big offensive killing machine, which wasn't the intention. Don't think of it like a summon (afterall, it worked with Mind Blast on a few enemies). Not sure where you get the "...can kill a whole room with one skill" thing - that's not really how everyone plays. Some people like strategy. That's why my favorite build is the Phoenix Strike Assassin. You don't just go running into a room *CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK* spamming one skill. That's boring..

I think a posses skill would definitely have it's uses in certain strategies and builds, maybe not for a build that utilizes a single skill that you can spam.

Again, everyone plays different I guess, but I prefer thinking and strategy, so having a posses skill that allows you to scout (amongst other things) would be quite useful, as I envision it.|||I think there is a warcraft skill simmalair to this one.. Banshee's can take over other creature's|||Ah, my bad then. I have not played WoW..|||nah, not wow, just Warcraft3 - (wow came later) still it could be fun. I just don't think it will be Daiblo like.. this skill really sounds like a sneaky ability and Diablo aint no hide and seek game.|||Been brought up if I'm not mistaken, and YES, this is truly a great idea for a skill.

The only problem I see here is leaving your body behind. It's wierd and complicated.

How about you "jump" on the target and just control it, but still plays as "you"? Seen God of War 3 trailer where he control a big bad Orge? Something like this..|||Quote:

That's only the case in D2 (and, to my knowledge, only after patches due to people being invincible after going full vit). There's no reason to assume monsters will again have three billion health and 20-39 damage on /p8.|||Here's another idea for how it could work: Witch Doctor targets an enemy, it gets 'possessed' and starts seizuring, and wildly lashes out at all enemies in its vicinity. It might also take damage itself from the spell. Soon after however, it calms down again. Essentially it's just an area direct damage spell, but it's centred on a monster and the power is proportional to the attack power of the monster. It sounds like a Mass Confusion spell, but it's really a lot more focussed in power.|||It's sounds like a very good idea, but not as "Posses"(ed) as basically a single target Mass Confusion.

Maybe it should be called "Rage" or something, boosting the monster's damage and speed greatly, causing it to attack every (switching from target to target very fast) and ultimatly- Explode.
