Survey: "Zombie Dog" or "Mongrel" - Page 5

[:1]for short ive been calling them Zog's

Mongrel is clearly the best choice, but you could go for Zogrels, mogrells

thumbs up for "Grave hound"|||The reason I like "Mongrel" so much is that it's not strictly canine.

If you look at the Mongrel, it looks somewhat human, in a really twisted sort of way.

Almost like Gollum, from Lord of the Rings.|||Mongrel is way better, although Zombie Mongrel is really nice as well. I agree that they shouldn't go overboard with all the "Zombie" because it just gets to be a little much.|||Quote:

I think you're on to something here (:|||I don't really care about the name ('Hell Dog' would be another option). But these minions don't look like the way I would imagine Zombie Dogs (larger with huge teeth and much more demonic-looking). Since I have no clue what a Mongrel is I guess that fits better.|||Has blizzard made any comments about why they changed from Mongrel to Zombie Dog? I would like to know what is going on behind the scenes that made them change it, why it is such a debate.

I think if we made an actual poll we would see that Mongrel would beat Zombie Dog AT LEAST 4:1. So has Jay or anyone else made a comment?

I am not one of those modern gamers that think the developers should bend to the will of the fans, but...this is a time when I think they should listen to us.|||Quote:

I hate it when a spell name leads you to believe that, lore-wise, there ought to be a regent and then does not require one. When there isn't a regent where there should be, it makes the game seem (to me) unrealistic in terms of its own lore and thus (for me) ruins the immersion a bit. In other words, zombies without corpses sounds dumb to me, and that includes the dogs, the wall, the charger and the dumb zombie that pops out of the ground with spiders in its mouth.

But, I don't think Blizz's art direction really cares about this, and I think I am in the minority if not completely alone.

Hey you! Here's some immersion for you.

Say, for immersion's benefit, that there are a bunch of corpses buried in diablo 3's earth (which, if the world is anything like ours, there probably is). Imagine the Witch Doctor as not using corpses of readily dead enemies, but RATHER the corpses of dead things past to summon his zombie minions.

Plus, you could argue that everything should require a regeant. It did in D&D at least, and we never played requiring "regeants" (and I am very big on "immersion" in D&D) - its a lot of hassle.

I would much prefer my Necro in d2 to use this no corpse method of summoning skellies. Anyway, if I wanted perfect immersion I'd play a true RPG - not an action RPG.

Just my .02 |||And even with my previous statement, I prefer Mongrel

Zombie Dog sounds funny to me. Mongrel sounds like a beast.

Either way I'd probably still play the class though, as it doesn't matter the least bit to me.|||Quote:

Agreed. Games based more on D&D, that make use of "skill checks" such as Diplomacy, Disable Device, etc and doesn't rely as much on adrenaline pumping action and combat I see a need for such an aspect, but Diablo series (as much as I love it) doesn't need that level for me.|||Definately Mongrel
