Why the Dagger? - Page 4

Unlike the Wiz the WD has no skills that would aid him when he goes head to head.

It is true that the WD does not have many usefull skills for melee but he does have a traight where a percentage of his dmg goes to his pets, I belive it even goes to 70%. This with the Dagger traight Assaign(which I think WD is one of 2 that can use it). Give him a good dagger and use Locusts as support and he may have some potential, for all we know there may be a legendary WD dagger that will have crazy poison dmg.|||Quote:

In the Diablo Archive (book) a necro uses an enchanted dagger to cast spells. She couldn't cast verry powerfull spells without it. The book does contain a situation where a creature was stabbed by the dagger but it was not because the necro wanted it, it was a last resort. The enchantments that were unleashed from the dagger when it stabbed the creature made it experience alot of pain.

You are correct. In all of the books that feature a necromancer in the character line-up, they are distinguished from other spell casters, not only because of their black clothing and despondent appearance, but because of the unique 'Ivory' dagger. Of course, the dagger, according to the Sin War trilogy, was made from some type of bone. I believe in Legacy of Blood, the necromancer stabs Xaxiz with her dagger, to which he writhes in intense agony. |||If you think wands are OK, than daggers can serve just the same purpose, they are not 'ornamental' they are ritual. The magic needs the dagger as a focus and tool, just like wands in other lore. So really if you think the witch doctor has no dagger related skills maybe you are right, but the way I see it, all of his skills are dagger related, because they are voodoo-esque.|||Quote:

:clears throat: Ehm... yeah I think daggers fit the "sinister" look of the WD well.

But IMO the defining item for the WD is his oversized mask. What he's carrying is just incidental.|||Yeah, we should be sacrificing chickens with our daggers for abilities.|||I seem to remember some video(clip) or screenshots where the WD was holding a voodoo doll in one hand and a dagger in the other. It just looked so right to me Hope daggers have stats relevant to WDs on them.
